Divorce Dad Does…

Ok…where to begin? I am not a professional writer so lets just get that out of the way first! I’ve decided to finally take a step (feels like a leap) forward concerning helping others when it comes to divorce, investing, saving, cooking, educating, kids and running along with many other things in life.

Just some background before I start this journey in which I hope someone can benefit. I grew up in a small town in the Midwest. I was the youngest of three in a upper class poor situation with a crazy father and ambitious mother. I have come to realize over the past several years that you cannot hide from your past. Its in you…deep and even in those first 14 years of my life, I am the product that I am today. That said I was a terrible student, un-diagnosed ADHD with a side of dyscalculia. Because of my upbringing though I was also ambitious (just had to lookup spelling on that word) and tenacious. Basically I am a hard worker.

Where am I now? I live on the West Coast, retired at 38, divorced at 42, two kids, a great running dog and one awesome longtime girlfriend. Ohhhh I know, there is a lot more on those stories in the future don’t worry! Continuing…. over the years I turned my attention to the non-profit world along with trying to educate myself further on saving, investing, cooking, raising kids and property ownership (which intrigues me). I’ve have learned so much over the years that I am now, after ten years of not “officially” working, decided to put all of this on paper. Well blog…but you know what I mean. Anyways there is a lot of information to share and I hope that I can make someone think before taking action in the future.

So there it is, my first blog! I am not sure what my first real topic will be but I am going to start working on it now. If you need a little kick in the culo (as my Italian grandfather would say) then please join me on this journey. Just because I am a Divorced Dad does not mean Mom’s out there won’t learn something too. Stick with me and lets see where this goes!
